Home-seasoned black beans with a thick broth, served as broth, fritters and the full plate. Traditional, every weekend.

call your own
SEUBAR was born from a wish. Three friends who love hosting people, who had spent their lives producing events and gathering crowds, each time somewhere different, missed the opposite: a fixed address, a door that's always open, a meeting point that belonged to them and to whoever walked in. A place to call your own.
And so, after long months of construction and a lot of learning, on a Monday, December 19, 2011, at five in the afternoon, our first little door opened shyly — but with a burning desire to make it happen. There wasn't even a printed menu in the room yet. There was no time to feel strange about it: within minutes not a chair was left, and the waiting line had already taken over the sidewalk. Olegário Maciel street had no idea what was coming — today it's one of the biggest and best-known dining strips in Rio de Janeiro, known in every corner of the world.
Since then, the same deck has seen a lot — so many stories lived here. And speaking of stories: who doesn't have a good one to tell about this beloved little corner, right? Birthday after birthday, loud laughter, a last round that's never the last. People who met at a table here and now come back from the beach to lunch with their grown-up kids. People meeting right now who, who knows, may soon be regulars at our lunch with their kids too. Every day, the people of Barra da Tijuca and its surroundings share the sidewalk with visitors from all over the world. The bar became a beloved part of Rio's heritage — and a must-stop for anyone visiting or passing through Rio de Janeiro.
It wasn't born from an elaborate consultancy or an ambitious business plan. It was born from the desire, and the soul, to host with the heart — and that can't be planned anywhere. It's so genuine that time insists on proving it: in December 2026 we turn 15, with a wonderful team and the owner here every single day.
We do today what we did that Monday, only a little better every day: serve, make friends and set the perfect stage for celebrating life. Welcome. And speaking of owners: come on in — SEUBAR means "your bar", and it's yours.
